Andy Laycock

Singer, musician, and actor Andy Laycock was born in London. For many years now, he has been a member of internationally renowned British acappella group The Flying Pickets (worldwide #1 hit “Only You”), working with them as a singer, arranger, composer and producer, and with whom he has toured extensively worldwide, performing all over Europe (including Scandinavia and the Baltic States), Africa, and Asia; with many additional appearances on national television and radio stations all over the world (in Germany- ARD, BR, 3Sat, NDR, SWR, Pro7, Kabel Eins etc, Austrian ORF, Swiss SF1, Italian RAI, Spanish RTVE, MTV Estonia, SABC in South Africa etc, as well as all the national BBC channels in the UK).

As well as producing, arranging and singing several leads on their new album
“STRIKE AGAIN’ (released Oct 2015), Andy has appeared on the Flying Pickets
most recent CDs ‘Only Yule’ (2010), ‘Big Mouth’ (2008), ‘Everyday’ (2005),
‘Live in Hamburg’ (2003), and ‘Vocal Zone’ (2001), as well as producing and
writing material on ‘Only Yule’, ‘Big Mouth’ and ‘Everyday’, which has been
nominated in the USA for CARA Awards (the acappella Grammies).
Before joining the Flying Pickets, Andy trained as an actor and has had
considerable experience in the UK, appearing onstage in London’s West End, as
well as onscreen alongside Ewan McGregor. In London, Andy was invited to sing and
play percussion to recreate the Phil Spector ‘Wall of Sound’ in the original London West End
production of the musical ‘Leader of the Pack’ with songwriter Ellie Greenwich (who wrote
many of the original hit records in the 60s and 70s with Phil Spector).
